The Galaxy, our new flagship, currently in it's design stages.
Each speaker consists of 3 modules - 2 bass modules and 1 mid/high end module, for a total of 6 modules for a stereo pair.
The bass modules each have 2 x 300mm extra long excursion, extremely stiff Kevlar coned sub bass drivers producing the range from 15Hz to 80Hz.
That's 8 drivers in total with a combined linear displacement of over 13 litres.
These drivers are driven by an immense array of amplification consisting of 4 x 1000w Australian built modules, for a total of 4000w of power. Each amplifier has a 1kVA power supply.
Each mid/high end module consists of 2 x 220mm bass/mid drivers, 2 x 135mm midrange drivers, and a single 25mm tweeter.
The 220mm bass/mid drivers are the very same state of the art drivers used in our Jupiter, using metal cones, dual magnets, and cast baskets.
The 135mm midrange drivers are designed and manufactured to our proprietary specification, using metal cones, dual magnets, and cast baskets.
The 25mm fabric dome tweeter is arguably the finest fabric dome tweeter known - the Scan Speak Ring Radiator. Very high efficiency, 40kHz extension, low resonance, and no ferrofluid being key goals in this design.
The cabinet, as usual is built to our extreme standards, with no less than 32mm MDF on any exterior wall, and 60mm on the baffles. Heavy bracing, and angled baffles to reduce internal reflections to a minium is also used extensively.
The passive section of the crossover consists of our usual hand wound air core coils, film capacitors, and MOX resisitors.
The above combination achieves a speaker of unparalleled purity, dynamics and realism at any cost. A speaker which can produce the impact of a full scale orchestra, or rock concert without a hint of strain, yet still have ample in reserve.
A true reference speaker by which all others are judged.
All Galaxys sold come with personal installation by the designer anywhere in Australia, included in the cost.
The Galaxy has a current estimated price of $35,000pr - Release date, 4th quarter of 2009.
